<title>BMW to build a new model - X4</title>

<description><![CDATA[BMW Company was thankfully from the sold of crossover X6, that&rsquo;s why decided to make a minor model named X4. Future car is classified as Sports Activity Sedan (SAS), taking the same deck as the upcoming model X3. In comparison with X6 it won&rsquo;t have the same capacity and will not look as a car for land, but the design will admonish customers interested in cars&rsquo; originality. 

Auto Zeitung&rsquo;s designers, using photoshop, have shown how would look, from their point of view, the new BMW X4 &ndash; as a result they gained something similar with X3 and X6. 

That&rsquo;s all information about X4 &ndash; these are only rumours, but we hope soon to develop the secrets and to be informed with more details about this interesting car.]]></description>

<title>Ford may say goodbye to Mercury brand</title>

<description><![CDATA[Ford Motor Co. may soon retire its Mercury brand to focus its efforts on Ford and Lincoln brands, U.S. auto industry analysts say. 

Ford officials have denied such reports, but industry analyst Aaron Bragman of the economic forecasting firm Global Insight said the Mercury brand has declined in sales and may soon become expendable, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday. 

&quot;Mercury has one more product cycle left in it, and then will almost certainly be retired as a brand,&quot; Bragman said. 

Former auto executive Jerome York -- who now advises the investment company of billionaire Kirk Kerkorian -- said this week the struggling automaker would benefit from retiring the Mercury brand.

<title>GM workers in Kansas begin strike</title>

<description><![CDATA[United Auto Workers began a strike Monday at a General Motors Corp. plant in Kansas City, Kan., over job selection and seniority issues, union officials said. 

Workers from UAW Local 31 walked away from the assembly line that produces the Chevrolet Malibu, one of the company's best selling models, The Detroit News reported. 

The plant also produces the Saturn Aura, the Detroit Free Press reported. 

GM spokesman Dan Flores said the company was &quot;disappointed&quot; the union decided to strike. 

The local's Web site says disputes continue over &quot;management placement without regard to seniority, inter-department transfers, job selection&quot; and other issues.]]></description>

<title>Mercedes-Benz USA's Sales Drop Three Percent In April</title>

<description><![CDATA[While experiencing a marginal three percent decrease in its April sales (20,271 vs. 20,895), Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) maintained a 1.4 percent increase for the first four months of the year (77,918 vs. 76,880), bringing year-to-date sales to the highest level in the company&rsquo;s history. 

Highlights for the month include growth in the sales volume-leading C-Class model line which posted a significant 33.5 percent gain (6,850 vs. 5,131 units) for the month and a 37.8 percent jump (23,991 vs. 17,413 units) for the year-to-date. Increases were also achieved in two of the Mercedes-Benz SUV model lines for the month. Sales of the popular M-Class rose 8.4 percent (2,582 vs. 2,382 units) for the month and 23.6 percent (12,089 vs. 9,783 units) for the year-to-date.]]></description>

<title>GM says it still has cuts ahead</title>

The cuts made to create a sleeker company &quot;were necessary and important,&quot; Henderson said, but, &quot;you've got to do more.&quot; 

After posting its third consecutive quarter of losses -- including $3.25 billion in the first quarter of 2008 -- GM said it was scaling back 2008 sales projections from the low 16 millions to the high 15 millions, The Detroit News reported Thursday. 

Henderson said the company, which has trimmed annual costs by $9 billion since 2006, needed &quot;fewer, better&quot; cars and trucks, the News reported.

<title>General Motors axes 970 in Canada</title>

<description><![CDATA[Almost 1,000 workers for General Motors of Canada will be laid off in September because of falling demand, the company announced. 

The layoff means an entire shift will disappear at the GM truck assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario, east of Toronto, the Toronto Star reported. 

It affects about 900 hourly workers and 70 salaried employees, the company said. 

GM said demand for full-size pickup trucks was falling, gas prices are soaring and economic conditions are deteriorating. 

The Oshawa truck plant had been running full-bore since 1993 on a three-shift schedule and annual production used to be 300,000 trucks, the report said.]]></description>
