Michael Jackson won't lose Neverland Ranch

An investment company says it has bought the loan to Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch in California's Santa Ynez Valley, saving it from foreclosure.

A foreclosure auction had been scheduled for the property this week, however, a spokeswoman for Colony Capital told the Los Angeles Times her company bought the loan and the auction has been called off.

In a statement released to the Times by a Jackson representative who identified himself only as B. Michael, Jackson said he was "pleased with recent developments involving Neverland" that would "allow me to focus on the future."

Jackson has not lived at Neverland, which once boasted an amusement park and zoo, since he was acquitted of child molestation charges in 2005.

Three times in visit to "Mother" may be the charm for Britney Spears

Three times may be the charm for Britney Spears and "How I Met Your Mother", relates Reuters reports.

With Spears making her second guest appearance on the abruptly popular CBS comedy, the show's co-creator, Craig Thomas, tells THR.com that Monday's episode was written to leave the door open for the pop singer to make a return appearance next season.

"She was better than the first time, and I think the fans will enjoy it because her return answers a larger mystery set up earlier in the series," Thomas said. "So there's a good plot reason why she's there. And when people watch Britney's second appearance on the show they'll see that the door is still open for her to come back.

Music industry hopes upgrades boost mobile sector

Perhaps no single device has had more impact on mobile music than Apple's iPhone. While only 6.7 percent of overall mobile customers use their phone to listen to music, rising to 27.9 percent for smartphone users, a full 74.1 percent of iPhone owners reported using the device as an MP3 player, according to M:Metrics.

According to Reuters reports, the majority of this music, however, is transferred from the computer, rather than purchased through the phone and downloaded wirelessly. That may change this summer once Apple unveils what many expect will be a new version of the iconic device, featuring access to high-speed third-generation (3G) wireless networks.

The company has not made an official announcement, but signs point to an early June release.

An East Carolina University biologist, Jason Bond, discovered a new species of trapdoor spider and opted to call the arachnid after his favorite musician, Canadian Neil Young, naming it Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi.

"There are rather strict rules about how you name new species," Bond said in a statement.

"As long as these rules are followed you can give a new species just about any name you please. With regards to Neil Young, I really enjoy his music and have had a great appreciation of him as an activist for peace and justice.
